Kasimir (Kas) Zierl is a Melbourne, Australia-based film maker, graphic design, and multi-media visual artist who emigrated with his mother to Australia from Germany in 1984. Educated at Melbourne University, he recognized early on his aptitude for filmmaking and has since gone on to write, produce, or direct more than 200 independent and commercial projects.
Kasimir Zierl has been making films since he was 14 years old. Always fascinated by the way film is a blend of other art forms.
As a member of the Explorers Club, Kas has been filming expeditions around the world. From a nature documentary about the birds of Helgoland in Germany, hiking in the pristine forests of northern Vancouver Island in Canada, chasing wildlife in New Zealand for the BBC and hiking unexplored mountains of Papua New Guinea. Kasimir is one of the only people to have seen the entire Skeleton Coast of Namibia, since the Namibian DeBeers diamond mine in the south reluctantly allows visitors to its territory.
He has filmed the red crab migration on Christmas island and grappled with monstrous robber crabs to get footage.
He has produced advertisement campaigns for Kawasaki, Optus, Grampians Tourism, Caterpillar trucks and Wilderness International. A comprehensive list of clients can be found on the clients page.
Kasimir directed, shot and edited an expedition film that was screened on National Geographic Channel Asia to over 50 countries.
He created the kickstarter video for a project that successfully raised more than $250 000.
He has been studying Method acting at the Melbourne Actor’s Lab for 5 years to understand how to direct actors.
He founded and ran several successful online businesses. He managed the online marketing strategies, client pitch meetings, hiring the team and scaling the companies.
With skills in every aspect of film production and over 230 videos created in his career so far, Kasimir is both a team player and a one man crew, able to complete film projects on his own.
