I would find it very difficult to run this club on this level without Kasimir’s assistance. He runs all the videos, he creates all the video content. I really, really rely on him. He is a true professional, if anyone out there needs an adventure filmmaker, I’ve really got to plug Kasimir, our chapter video journalist.
Atara Film
A wildlife documentary company.
I worked as an assistant producer for nature documentaries in New Zealand and Christmas Island.
Have you ever been to the Highlands of PNG? If you have then you will understand what I am about to write and if you haven't please do not think I am overstating the situation.
The Sarawaget Traverse took our group over the Sarawaget massif just north of Lae. This trail is rarely used (if ever) by locals who normally walk another way. But we were forced to take this trail because of innumerable landslides. Over 9 days we bashed our way up to 3600 meters where the tree line falls away and makes way for open grassland. Days were slow, so so slow. The average trekking day was 10 hours and in those 9 days we trekked 50 kilometres. Can you believe it? 50 kilometres in 9 days.
While we all had to negotiate this terrain, Kas was burdened by the task of filming the "adventure" and making a story of it. His enthusiasm was contagious and lifted the spirits of the entire group including the local team. He was incredible, always seeing opportunities as we just hung our heads in exhaustion. There was a short window (maybe an hour) where I did observe Kas staring into the distance, eyes glazed over (he started to look like the rest of us). But this soon passed, a good stiff black coffee and away he went on his excited inquisitive way.
On return, Kas was engaging and creative in what we were looking for. Our project was small in comparison to larger projects and as such, we needed to create a film that people would remember. Kas came up with a brilliant idea that has made it stand out from the crowd, exactly what we wanted.
I loved working with Kas. He was enthusiastic, creative, punctual and interesting to work with. I will not hesitate in using him for future projects (if he ever wants to go back to that hell hole).
Chapter 53
A fine dining concept food event.
I photographed the event to promote the dinner on social media.
